Books, Life, and a Little Bit of Chaos with @ReaderLatte

💬 Life Lately | Weekly Update from the Road

Hi friends,

This weekly update is getting a bit of a refresh. Instead of posting twice a week, I’ll now be sharing one full post every week—just a real and honest look into what’s been going on in our lives. From family moments and books to the struggles of housing insecurity and everything in between, I want to bring you along on this journey with us.

This Past Week:

Truthfully, reading has taken a backseat lately. I’ve been recovering from a tooth extraction, and between the pain and exhaustion, it’s been hard to focus on books the way I usually love to.

But on a brighter note, we’ve started doing Instacart—and it’s been a huge improvement! No more lingering around restaurants waiting for orders, and thankfully, no more constant food smells in the car triggering my migraines. It’s been a small but meaningful win in our day-to-day.

Unfortunately, our hotel points have officially run out, and the financial strain has been weighing heavily on us. We’ve been working hard to chip away at our credit card debt, only to find ourselves right back where we started—this time sitting at a mechanic shop, waiting while my car gets looked at again. Just when we finally pay something off, something else breaks. Living in this constant state of fear—of what’s going to go wrong next and how we’ll cover it—is exhausting.

After we leave here, we’ll pick up my husband, check the mail, and get the cars situated for another night of sleeping in them. This isn’t the life we ever imagined, but we’re doing what we can to keep going.

We had been counting on a 401K loan to help us transition out of the cars, but with the stock market in its current state, that hope has all but vanished. The funds we were relying on have dwindled to almost nothing, and paying off an old loan just isn’t feasible when there’s nothing left to pull.

With summer fast approaching—and the heat already climbing into the 90s—I'm honestly scared. The thought of enduring another season like this is overwhelming.

But I’m holding onto hope. And gratitude. For every share, every kind word, every donation—you help us keep going. Thank you for following our journey, for caring, and for being here.

If you have a home you can afford, a roof over your head, and food to put on the table for your family, never take it for granted. For over a year and a half, we’ve been without a stable home, struggling to make ends meet, and it has truly opened our eyes to how precious these simple things are. When we finally have a home again and can cook meals for our family, we will cherish it like never before. The ability to provide for ourselves, to sit down at a table together, and to simply have a safe place to call home will never be something we take for granted. Appreciate these blessings, because not everyone gets to experience them.

See you next week!
