This book is, without a doubt, the most incredible story I’ve read this year. As a fan of Lani’s previous works, I was deeply saddened by her passing, yet I’m grateful that her legacy lives on through her captivating stories. She was a remarkable woman whose impact will never fade. This book, which I can only describe as a fantasy western (though it sounds unusual, trust me, it works!), features a breathtaking magical system that had me completely enthralled. The characters were rich and fully developed, making every moment of the story feel real and heartfelt. You could truly sense Lani’s heart and soul in every page, and it almost felt as though she was still here with us. While I wish this could have turned into a full series, the ending—with its stunning twists—was both unexpected and unforgettable. It left me longing for more, but I will cherish the story and the world she created.
