REVIEW: "The One I Stood Beside" is a heart-wrenching yet uplifting tale of best friends and the extraordinary lengths they will go for each other. It features some classic best friend romance tropes, such as secretly harboring feelings for one another and not confessing, with everyone else aware of their love, a fake marriage, and more surprises I won't spoil. I loved feeling immersed in their love story, with Piper and Rayne's vivid writing transporting me right into the heart of the family. I fell for the Plain Daisy Ranch cast in the first book, and this sequel has only deepened my affection. I eagerly anticipate the next two stories about the remaining brothers and look forward to seeing everyone happily in love by the series' end.
