An invitation to Catalina Island from billionaire CEO Richard Kingsley. For his sons, Ted and John, and their wives, it’s an opportunity to curry favor, gain control of a real estate empire, and secure their family’s futures. Then Richard’s estranged live-wire daughter, Sibley, crashes the party. She’s the least of the night’s surprises. As the stakes for the inheritance of the Kingsley legacy are raised, the beautiful waters of the Pacific look more like a menacing illusion.
Let the games begin for a family who has everything money can buy, and has used lies, deception, and more to keep it. This weekend one of them will be crowned heir. One is in line to lose everything. That’s the plan. But in the coming storm, so much can go dangerously wrong.

My Review: One weekend onboard a yacht. Three children with their significant others. One wife. More secrets than one can count. That’s the recipe for “Beneath the Surface” – a fast-paced psychological thriller that concludes with the reins of a billion-dollar company changing hands.
While this thriller veers from the typical murder mystery, it delivers plenty of twists and turns as secrets come to light. Think you have all the answers? Pay close attention to every detail—some clues are more obvious than others.
Fans of the show Succession will find this tale strikingly familiar. The cutthroat family dynamics and high-stakes corporate intrigue ripple through each chapter, keeping you perched on the edge of your seat. Each character is a labyrinth of complexity, with motives that unravel in unexpected, shocking ways.
The luxury yacht setting adds a claustrophobic intensity, where the confined space amplifies the suspense and every interaction brims with potential betrayal. The atmosphere is thick with tension, pulling you into a world of the ultra-wealthy, where appearances deceive and trust is a rare luxury.
Though not a dramatized audio, the book features multiple narrators for its various POVs, each bringing a unique nuance to the characters they portray. The shifting perspectives delve deep into each character's psyche, uncovering their fears, desires, and the lengths they will go to protect their secrets. It’s a masterclass in narration, enhancing the immersive experience of this gripping thriller.
