#Discussions: The role of boys in YA. DISCUSS. (Is it okay that they’re idealised heart throbs??)

So romance is never as good in real life as it is in books and we all know why.  Because the best boys are written by women.  So sad that we can't find these boys IRL though.  So how important are these sexy boys and do they set the bar so high that we will never find real love?

I think I am one of the weird readers that never have book boyfriends.  And its not because Ive been married for almost 12 years.  I always see it as they have found their true love within the series they are in.  Like Jamie has found Claire and Clary found Jace etc. They belong together and I wouldn't want to rip them apart.  

But I will say that I think males in stories set a high bar for men IRL to follow.  I don't expect my husband to do the things I read in books........however some of it I wouldn't say now if he wanted to 😝 

I just think in the main stream of things readers need to remember that books are fiction. But never be scared to ask your significant other if you want something.  Wanna try something in a book?  Want your man to throw you up against the wall?  We'll talk to them. Maybe they would be open to trying something new.
