#BookReview: The Girlfriend Mom: A Memoir by Dani Alpert

My Review: When this one was sent to us I grabbed it!! I was very excited to read it.  But although this was very funny in parts it just didn't mesh with me in full.  I wanted to love it but I am so hit and miss when it comes to memoirs and this one just wasn't for me.  I think others will find this book very good but for me it just didn't work out.  

The Girlfriend Mom is a laugh-filled memoir about going through the imperfect experiences of joining with a family. Dani Alpert's darkly funny memoir is about forging a relationship with her divorced boyfriend's children. Narrated with honesty and wit, the book airs grievances and frustrations with nuance, flair, and comedic sensibilities. Biting humor... astute observations and juxtapositions enliven scenes. Song lyrics open each chapter to set the tone; the book's catchy chapter titles are complementary. Each person in Alpert's story is made multidimensional, evincing a deep understanding of human foibles and compassion for others.
