Once I realized I was alone with Seb, I started to feel uneasy. Since the night, I left Brian I hadn’t been alone with a man. I didn’t really want to be. My fight or flight instinct was kicking in, and the flight was telling me to get the hell away from this man. Looking at him, I knew he could hurt me. He was taller than me by a good foot. He was built like a rock. I knew that, since I had his body pressed up to mine not even 15 minutes ago. Even though he seemed like a good guy, I didn’t know him well and I just couldn’t trust him just yet. “I need to go,” I tell him, looking around for the door. I know he is probably thinking I am crazy but at this moment I just don’t care. I am frantically looking around for the door that we came in. I have got to get away from him before I have a complete meltdown. “What’s wrong? Are you ok?” He places his hand on my shoulder. I flinch, I just can’t help it, trying to slow my breathing I respond, “yeah, I’m fine…I just really need to find my friends.” I turn and start to walk toward the door, but before he could say anything else, the door opens and in come, not only his friends but mine too. I sighed with relief, but it was short lived. I knew with all four of them in here, we ladies didn’t have a chance if they wanted to hurt us. I knew that not all men were out to hurt women, but I couldn’t stop the way my brain worked. I had lived in fear for over 2 years, before I finally had the courage to run. I start walking toward Beth. When her eyes met mine, she knew instantly something was wrong. Taking my hand, she leads me to the restroom. Once inside, she locks the door, and places both her hands on my cheeks. “Babe, calm down. You are fine. We are in a club with nice men who want to talk and dance with us. Nothing more.” I place my forehead on her shoulder. “Did he do or say something to you to make you think he would hurt you?” I shake my head, no. “Then what the hell happened?” Thinking about her question, I sigh. “I was fine, we were talking and then we were alone. I just freaked. God, Beth, he probably thinks I am crazy.”About Robin Edwards:
