This week were talking about when is it right to review an ARC or Advanced Reading Copy. If you are a reviewer and you sign up for an early copy of the book there are times to review it and have that review or post going live.
So you got a book that comes out sometime in the future so now what? Most publishers will tell you to review and post that review to go live within 1 week of the book coming out. But here is a great list to follow.
1. Promo Post up to 4 months before the publication date.
These posts are shoutouts that tell your fans that you received this title and that a review will be coming. This is also a great way to promote the title for pre orders etc. Another thing you could do is post to your social media accounts such as instagram with how excited you are that you received the title.
2. Review Post
Most publishers want you to post a review anywhere from 1 month before the book releases to the week before its out. I would say to check with the publisher to see which one they want you to do.
3. Release Day Post
This post can include a review but it doesn't have to. It's basically just allowing you to shout out to your fans that hey this book is now available. This could also include an interview with the author or a chapter sample. Anything to shoutout that the book is one that you die hard loved etc.
4. 1 Month Out
Another great post is one month after the book is released. This could be a simple review post or another promo one. This would just again allow people to know that the book is out and that its so good. It keeps the momentum going for this book being released.
5. 1 Year Out
If you are wanting to fill up your calendar in the future another great post which is one that we just started doing. That one year after the book is out is usually when the paperback will be releasing. So a great idea is to run another review post one year after the book releases.
