This week's hop prompt is
15th - 21st - Have you ever thought about taking a break from blogging/Booktubing (if you're a Booktuber)? If you have, how long was the break and what did you learn from it? (submitted by Danielle @ PoetryBooksYA)
I used to take breaks once a year during the Thanksgiving/Christmas time becuase the site never really got a lot of views during that time. But now after almost 10 years of reviewing I try to get things done way in advance. Right now I am about 2 weeks out with reviews and hope to get another week out by the end of this weekend. (at the time of posting).
I think that if you are not like me where I have no life as I don't have an outside job so all I do is stay home, clean, do laundry, and read. That I don't really need long breaks anymore.
But, on the other hand if you are working a job, going to school, dealing with kids full time, etc. That a break would be good. Even a short one that is a week long is always a great thing to do so you don't burn out.
If you are just getting started and you want to get things posted to your site. My recommendation is to do a ton of book reviews that you have already read. That way you can then focus on books that you need to review and be a few weeks to months out.
Another great thing is that you can sign up with sites like Xpresso Tours and do a promos so you can have time to do other things. They give you a simple HTML copy and paste code to use and you can use those as filler on your site while you are taking your break. That way you still have things being posted.
Another option would be to have a few cobloggers. And everyone does alternating weeks. So say you had four people working on the same site doing 3 or 4 posts a week. Each person could do one week every 4 weeks. That way each person would have 3 weeks of down time to get books read before they had to be posted.
