Photo from Bermuda Online |
I've been to Bermuda twice, as it's easily accessible from NYC by plane and cruise ship, and it's easy to understand his infatuation with the islands, even in modern times so different from when he was there. The houses are colorful, the water surrounding the islands is turquoise and crystal clear, and pink sand beaches along the south shore are beautiful and cool despite sitting all day under a hot sun, and the people are the nicest you will EVER meet. The islands are loaded with picturesque views, amazing views in every direction, and history everywhere between the forts scattered across the islands to many of the buildings and the historical figures, Mark Twain included, who visited them. It is, I must say, the perfect beach destination for a long weekend away with a stack of books to read, Mark Twain or otherwise.
I'm just going to drop a few of my own photos here as inspiration for your next trip.
