#BookReview: Hello, Sunshine! by@leilahowland @DisneyHyperion #Giveaway

This cover is so cute and so was this book! YouR will love every page of this funny, romantic, aspirational, and ultimately triumphant novel about a girl who just wants to make it on her own.

A Prep School Girl with a Hollywood Dream

Becca Harrington is a reject. After being rebuffed by every college on her list, she needs a fresh start, so she packs up everything and moves to LA, giving herself one year to land an acting gig or kill herself trying.

Unfortunately, not everything turns out as planned, and after a few grueling months, LA is looking like the worst idea ever. As hard as she tries, Becca can’t land an agent, she's running out of cash, and her mom is hounding her to apply to more schools. In an act of desperation, Becca and her friend Marisol start posting short videos online—with the help of their adorable filmmaker neighbor, Raj—and the videos catch the attention of a TV producer. Could this be it? Her big break? Or will she have to move back home with nothing but some bad head shots and a monstrous credit-card bill?

Becca may not get the Hollywood ending she was hoping for, but perhaps she’ll learn there’s more than one way to achieve her dream.

A graduate of Georgetown University, Leila Howland spent five years acting in New York in everything from an MTV public service announcement for safe sex to a John Guare play at Lincoln Center, and was a proud company member of the award-winning Flea Theater in Tribeca. Currently, she is a school librarian in Los Angeles, where she lives with her family.

This one I gave four stars to because at times it felt like the plot/story was all over the place. The story as a whole was totally awesome and is a full 4 stars in my eyes. This one didn't grab me from the first few pages. But after the first few chapters I was hooked. I never put it down. I ended up reading this one during that lovely Hurricane Irma and at a time when we didn't have power.

The story starts off with a bang and flows well from there. I love how the author takes you around LA. although I am pretty sure I would still get lost. This story had one major twist. And another reveal that what I thought was going to happen. Didn't. I'll put the spoiler at the bottom. Ok that's down there.

The characters were all great and I really loved what the author did with Becca's best friend. You know something is shady about her but you just don't know what. I thought she was a scammer and she as just going to leave Becca in the dust. But when the reveal happened man was I totally wrong! It was one twist I didn't see coming from a mile away. The rest of the characters were great as well Raj who was adorable!! I think this book would have been really interesting if it would have had companion novels. That way each one could have been about a different person. I know we already know where everyone ends up but it would be nice to see how Raj and Marisol got where they were.

The ending did seem a little sped up but it rounded out the novel well. I do with we would have found out what happened to Becca after her year was up. I grew to care for her and her friends and it would have been nice to see where she went in her career.

This one would be great for someone who didn't get into college or thinks they won't. Don't worry kids it's not the end of the world!! Don't be afraid to go after your dreams!!!

Ok so in part of this book this guy keeps showing up. As in an adult. In this book Becca's father isn't in the picture so I was thinking that was who he was. That he had found out he had a daughter and tracked her down. Although that wasn't the case. I do kinda sorta like what the author did with this character. But I think it would have been an interesting addition to add her dad. But it all worked out.
