Leslye Walton says that The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender began as a short story that came to her while listening to a song. She has an MA in writing, and this is her first novel. Walton is a native of Tacoma, Washington, and she currently teaches middle school in Seattle.
This was a fantastic book. The writing is absolutely gorgeous. As you move farther into this book you begin to feel as though the book has opened up and you have stepped inside. All of the characters were so well developed and I really got invested in all of them. This book has a beautiful message and I very much enjoyed this story.
