Downton Abbey meets Cassandra Clare in this lush, romantic fantasy from New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White.
“I did my best to keep you from crossing paths with this world. And I shall do my best to protect you now that you have.”
Jessamin has been an outcast since she moved from her island home of Melei to the dreary country of Albion. Everything changes when she meets Finn, a gorgeous, enigmatic young lord who introduces her to the secret world of Albion’s nobility, a world that has everything Jessamin doesn’t—power, money, status…and magic. But Finn has secrets of his own, dangerous secrets that the vicious Lord Downpike will do anything to possess. Unless Jessamin, armed only with her wits and her determination, can stop him.
Kiersten White captured readers’ hearts with her New York Times bestselling Paranormalcy trilogy and its effortless mix of magic and real-world teenage humor. She returns to that winning combination of wit, charm, and enchantment in Illusions of Fate, a sparkling and romantic new novel perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare, The Madman’s Daughter, and Libba Bray.
Kiersten White is the New York Times bestselling author of the Paranormalcy trilogy, The Chaos of Stars, and the psychological thrillers Mind Games and Perfect Lies. She has neither magic nor a pet bird, but wants both. Kiersten lives with her family in San Diego, California.
OMG OMG OMG! This story! I just have no words! I don't normally change my mind but for some reason I decided to grab this when I got to meet the author. And well it was such a good idea! I read this in one sitting and just devoured it. The only issue I have with this book is that
A. its not a series!
B. the ending is rushed just a bit
The world that White has created in this one is just beyond amazing! There is just so much material there that she could use to make another book! My fav character in this one would have to be hands down Eleanor! She is just so funny. I wanted to share more and more of her from the book but didnt want to give awaiting away. But she is just such a great character!
The two MC's were also fab. I do wish the book would have been a little longer and well was a series but the book gives us a great story about a girl who is trying to find her way and a guy that is trying to stop a war. Romance is of course included but kinda on the sly and the twists and turns I just didnt see coming were great.
Book in a Pinch
Beautifully crafted fantasy with magic, twists, turns, and romance and one killer ending.
Go Into This One Knowing
No cliffhanger but on killer ending, Romance, Magic, No love triangle

You had me at "Downton Abbey meets Cassandra Clare." That is a magical combination (as I quickly move it near the top of my TBR). ☺
