#Review #Giveaway of Ink and Bone (The Great Library #1) by @rachelcaine

In an exhilarating new series, New York Times bestselling author Rachel Caine rewrites history, creating a dangerous world where the Great Library of Alexandria has survived the test of time.…

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family’s spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library’s service.

When he inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn.…
 About the Author

Ok so first off there was only one thing I didnt like about this book.  And that was that when they all get to the school (kinda more like a job interview) names go wonky.  The teacher uses their last names but all the students use first names. Well unless they are being sarcastic.  This made it hard to follow just a little.  As I'm not one to remember names.  So that was the only issue I had.  Now that thats out of the way.

ITS FAN GIRLING TIME!!!!

This is how this book made me feel.  It was AMAZING!!!!!  So the gist is that the Great Library of Alexandria didnt burn down (ive heard this history every time we go to Epcot and ride in the ball hahah.  So it is still standing and well they have Alchemy which which means the following.

The Alchemist live as slaves in this Iron Tower and everyone uses these things called blanks to read.  So the simple of it is that the Alchemist in the tower are wifi and the blanks are all eReaders. Now I do want to say that the following from the about this book is wrong. The part in orange is wrong.  Jess never creates anything it is his friend Thomas who does the creating.  So that was kinda odd that they would put that there.

When he inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn.…

Ok so moving on.  This book is intense.  So much goes on in the just the first 100 pages that you think you have read about 300 and you find that you haven't.  It is very involved but that worked out so well.  The world building was great.  In this book its now 2025 and well some things were never invented or at least never used.  (sorry to say would be a spoiler)

So this one starts out when Jess is just a 10 year old little kid who is a runner for his families illegal book smuggling. It then jumps 6 years so of course he is now 16.  And he is now going to be tossed away by his family.  He either goes and gets accepted at the Great Library or he is pretty much out of luck.  So he of course goes.  The story flows so well in this book that you just go from one situation to another.  The author did a wonderful job with all of the story making it full of situations but making it so it flows.  I was never lost (other than the names) and it just worked so well.

The characters were amazing! Im not just saying that because the MC was called Jess (hehehe).  Each one had their own voice and the book would have been very interesting if the book would have been in multi POV. I would love to have some novellas told from all the other students POVs.

The last half of the book will make you cry.  I didn't cry a lot but I was tearing up.  I really can't wait for book two!!!

This is def. one that I want in signed hardback!!!!
