#Review of Beauty by @NancyOhlin #Published @simonteen

Looks to kill for...

Ana is nothing like her glamorous mother, Queen Veda, whose hair is black as ravens and whose lips are red as roses. Alas, Queen Veda loathes anyone whose beauty dares to rival her own—including her daughter.

And despite Ana’s attempts to be plain to earn her mother’s affection,
she’s sent away to the kingdom’s exclusive boarding school.

At the Academy, Ana is devastated when her only friend abandons her for the popular girls. Isolated and alone, Ana resolves to look like a true princess to earn the acceptance she desires.

But when she uncovers the dangerous secret that makes all of the girls at the Academy so gorgeous, just how far will Ana go to fit in?

Biography

I am the author of BEAUTY, a YA retelling of the Snow White tale, and ALWAYS, FOREVER, a YA retelling of Daphne du Maurier's REBECCA. ALWAYS, FOREVER was originally published in hardcover as THORN ABBEY.

I've also contributed to several celebrity novels, including a New York Times-bestselling YA trilogy.

I'm currently hard at work on my next YA novel, which will be as mind-bending as ALWAYS, FOREVER (I hope!).

My favorite cures for writers' block are long walks, long showers, popcorn, chocolate, and really expensive coffee. I talk to myself a lot while I write (you know, to make sure the dialogue zings).

My Review 2 White as Snow Stars

Well if you have read this book and you liked it go to a different review. Because, I'm about to kill this one.  I really didnt like this book.  I decided to read it because it was watching me from my bed and I thought why not its only 175 pages I can finish this in like 2 hours and then go on to what I need to read.  But, that so didnt happen.    The synopsis sounded really good but it didnt turn out to be what I was hoping to be reading.  I love retelling.  I'm a die hard fan so when I heard of this one I snagged it.  Its a retelling of snow white btw. So this had the org. story of the evil queen who hates snow white because of her beauty but in this one the evil queen was her mother.  Also in this one Ana loves her mom of course and her mother shuns her when she sees how pretty she is becoming.  Ana was not a very good character in this book.  She covered up the fact that her mother hated her and eat her self to death as well as didnt bathe etc at all. Ugh.  This book sounded very childish to me in the way it was written which made the characters sound the same.  I wish it would have been written with a 16 year old voice.  It also felt like the story would be dark and then light and fluffy at times and the going back and forth got very boarding and irritating by half way through.  She didnt stand up for herself and was very whinny at times.

Go Into This One Knowing

This is one of those books that had a lot of potential but just fell way short of a good book.
